I have had the indescribable and unique experience of getting to know Ted Compton as his one and only kid.
For 20 years now, my family and I have seen each other through thick and thin, so I would like to think I have a good understanding of how my dad operates as a parent, friend and leader. My opinion on family decisions has always been considered and deemed valuable. Even in moments when I wanted an easy out and to be told the perfect course of action, I was met with words of wisdom and a push to figure out what “I” needed.
As a young woman, this was certainly an important lesson, but I watch Compton bring this mentality of collaboration to all of his interactions. He always has an interest in what someone else can bring, understanding that the greatest outcomes are created by more than one person. For me, this philosophy has led me to study environmental science at Pitzer College, not to single-handedly solve environmental problems, but with the hopes of playing a part in the bigger solution. I believe this is similar to the goal my dad has for the La Plata Electric Association board of directors.
If you have not voted in past LPEA elections, now is the time to start. Critical decisions are being made and you get to pick who will make them. I encourage you to vote for Ted Compton for LPEA District 3.
