We are writing in support of Ted Compton as a candidate for La Plata Electric Association Board of Directors. Granted, we are his parents, but we truly believe he is very well qualified to serve as a director on the LPEA board – not only in terms of education (two engineering degrees from Stanford University) but also in terms of experience. He has served on several community boards, always with an eye to making La Plata County an even better place.
Having myself (Tom Compton) previously served on the LPEA board for several years, I had a solid understanding of the energy business at that time.
We were excited and proud that Ted was considering running, but it took a few passionate discussions for Ted to convince us that today’s energy industry is very different. It is in the midst of some rapid change and that requires the LPEA board to critically and thoroughly evaluate all options that may prove beneficial for the members while still maintaining a strong commitment to affordable, reliable power and long-term sustainability.
While Ted was growing up on our ranch, we could always expect him to get the job done. We would expect no less from him as an LPEA director. Please consider voting for Ted Compton for LPEA District 3 when you receive your ballot in the mail.
