It’s a sad day for public education in America.
I, like thousands of others across the country, have been alarmed by the nomination of Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary. As the information about her lack of experience, total disregard for the public school system in Michigan and her total lack of understanding about Title IX laws and those covering special education emerged, this alarm grew and spread.
There was a vigorous campaign launched against her, and the Democratic senators heard the people. So, too, did Republican senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
The rest of the senate showed that they care more about political contributions than they do the school children of America. Sen. Cory Gardner is one of those.
Gentlemen, I am deeply saddened by your lack of strength in standing up for what is right. You should all be ashamed.
