As I was placing the U.S. flag out to honor Veterans Day, my mind drifted back to what our government was like before President Trump and the MAGA movement.
Before Trump, the Department of Justice did not indict former government officials and citizens because they said or did something against the most corrupt, immature individual ever to occupy the White House. The attorney general did not bow to the president to get an indictment and make doing your job a crime.
Before Trump, past presidents did not cozy up to dictators and authoritarians while antagonizing our allies.
Before Trump, no president deployed federal troops to our cities without a request from the state. Trump and his secretary of defense deployed troops under the pretense of fighting crime that, by all accounts, is being handled quite well by local law enforcement.
Before Trump, our immigration policy was not to show up like a military force and forcefully detain and arrest students on their way to class, or individuals headed to immigration court.
It is time to demand that Congress and the judicial branches of our government do their jobs. It is time to stop bowing down to the current administration because of fear. He is but one man, wanting to be king. He is a dictator who is bound and determined to rule with an iron fist, having no regard for the Constitution of the United States or the American people.
