And I thought I was going to miss Jon Stewart.
It turns out the Republican debates and candidate antics are far funnier than he ever was! Tea partiers have finally found their man in their endless search for “the biggest idiot.”
Donald Trump has thus far managed to insult and alienate most all of our allies, Mexicans, women, Muslims, fellow Republicans and pretty much anyone with a brain. None of his proposals can be taken seriously. He’s fascist to the core and doesn’t understand anything about the world as it is. Yet Republicans continue to support his offensive behavior and baseless platform. He’s so delusional he thinks he has great hair. He’s a big fan of Putin, of all people.
Unfortunately, he’s attracting all the media attention and important issues like our citizens being slaughtered daily by anyone with a grudge and a massive arsenal of legally purchased weapons take back stage to his boorish antics. Republicans continue to do absolutely nothing to protect our citizens, even going so far as to trash legislation to prevent known terrorists on our no-fly list from buying weapons.
Locally, our elected representatives do not even respond to emails requesting attention to the matter. Sen. Ellen Roberts, Rep. J Paul Brown and Rep. Scott Tipton all failed to respond to repeated requests for information on what they have done to protect us, and how much the NRA contributes to their campaigns. They simply don’t care how many innocent men, women and children are murdered for no reason whatsoever or they would take a stand. More guns is always the answer, even in schools. The NRA rules.
Everyone needs to start hounding their state and federal representatives and demand something be done. We now have as many weapons as people in this country and all they want is more. You can forget about Brown. He, as usual, has not accomplished anything this term, continues to espouse NRA clichés, and could not care less about his constituents. I still hold hope that Sen. Roberts will eventually listen to her conscience.
