The Durango Parks and Recreation Department is working with the Durango Fire Protection District to complete a controlled burn of slash piles in Dalla Mountain Park. Burning is scheduled to begin Tuesday and continue through the end of the month, depending on weather conditions.
The goal of this maintenance project is to decrease wildfire risk by burning slash piles from previous fire mitigation efforts. The area will remain open to the public, but users should be aware that Durango Fire Protection District staff and vehicles will be in the area. Prescribed fire smoke may affect health.
