A 17-year-old girl has been reported missing in Cortez after several days without contact, prompting Cortez Police Department to ask for the public’s help out of the concern for her safety.
In a Facebook new release, the police department said Shaylin R. Odell was reported missing Tuesday after going several days without contact, as well as missing school and some appointments. Odell hasn’t been to school or work but has friends in Towaoc, according to the post.
Odell has brown eyes and black shoulder-length hair. She weighs about 160 pounds and is about 5 feet 2 inches. She is believed to be wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, with black and white Nikes, and could be traveling without her phone.
According to the release, she was last seen April 15 by a parent in Cortez while a family member reported seeing Odell last Thursday. However, the family member also told police they received a Snapchat from Odell’s account Saturday.
Odell has been entered into the National Crime Information Center and the Colorado Crime Information Center databases. The Colorado Crime Information Center portal is a state-level computer portal for crucial data managed in part by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911, call the Cortez Police Department, at (970) 565-8441, or use the anonymous Crimewatch “Submit A Tip” feature that can be found online or via an app.
