For the seven years I have been here, the City Council has been sidestepping or ignoring the many requests for outdoor pickleball courts. The insensitive responses and endless backdoor prioritization are clearly insults to the fastest growing sport in the world. Nearly every city on the Western Slope – except Durango – has outdoor pickleball courts.
If nothing else, consider the increased traffic and tourist dollars that would result if there were pickleball courts and tournaments in Durango. It certainly would be a great return on investment of our tax dollars!
At the very least, it would finally show a commitment to the needs and desires of your constituents.
