In celebration of May as historic preservation month, the La Plata County Historic Preservation Review Commission presents its second annual La Plata County Historic Driving Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday May 16. The public is invited to stop by any or all of the tour sites to visit and learn about the rich history of four local historic cemeteries in the Bayfield/Ignacio area.
Tour sites include:
. 10 a.m. Orientation at the Pine River Public Library, 395 Bayfield Center Dr.
. 10:20 a.m. at the Pine River Cemetery, 405 C.R. 501
. 11:30 a.m. at the Florida Cemetery, 2061 C.R. 225
. 1 p.m. at the Oxford Cemetery, 4512 C.R. 311
. 2 p.m. at the Ignacio East Cemetery, 9522 C.R. 321
There will be a presentation of the local history at each cemetery, and the timing allows for a 20-minute drive time to the next cemetery.
