Couple living near Oxford may have died in murder-suicide

Autopsies planned for Tuesday, Wednesday

Two people are suspected to have died in a murder-suicide Sunday afternoon south of Oxford, according to the La Plata County Coroner.

Coroner Jann Smith identified Gloria Casias, 63, and her boyfriend, Edward Ogden, 57, as the couple found deceased in a home near Oxford after several gunshots were reported coming from the residence.

Smith said she suspects the couple died in a murder-suicide and autopsies are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Law enforcement found the couple after reports of the gunshots. Several efforts were made to contact people inside the house and a tactical robot was used to enter the home before law enforcement officials made entry, said Sgt. Chris Burke, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

On Monday, Burke said the office was not looking for any additional suspects in the case. The Sheriff’s Office will also not be releasing any additional information until autopsies are complete, he said.
