We were on our way to Telluride recently and going through Rico; it was buried in snow.
We found out later in Telluride that an explosion had happened in Rico just after we went through. A woman was killed, thrown 30 feet from her house. Propane explosion is the suspected cause.
I’m a little dismayed by the lack of coverage in the Herald for this event and other mountain town news. Gas leaks this time of year can be a real problem.
Many mountain towns are buried by unusually high amounts of snow. Stove and other appliance vents are being covered and dislodged. Ice is disrupting service connections.
Let’s cover some of our mountain town news. It may save a life.
