Cowboy Poetry Gathering grateful for support

On behalf of the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, I would like to thank everyone who attended our seventh annual outdoor concert and barn dance June 13 at the gorgeous River Bend Ranch. We had over 350 in attendance, our largest barn dance yet!

Special thanks to the phenomenal Tim Sullivan Band as well as our youth performers Alec Bell, Elias Javier and Taylor Williams, otherwise known as Magic Ham, who entertained the crowd during intermission.

Many thanks to the Cowboy Poetry Gathering board and their spouses for all their help in organizing the evening, and especially a big thank you to Sue McWilliams for organizing our silent auction, a truly monumental task.

Thank you, Lone Spur Café, for providing food, and to Cream Bean Berry for donating their tasty artisan ice cream which was quite popular on a very warm afternoon. Thank you to Alex Winter and Colton Glasco for helping out at the bar. And special recognition and a huge thank you to Star Liquors and Coors that donated wine and beer for our fundraiser.

Our auctioneer, Larry Don Suckla, did a superb job in generating bidders during our live auction. And of course, the event would not have taken place without the assistance of Dan Diehl and his staff at River Bend Ranch. We are very grateful to the community’s support and enthusiasm as we strive to preserve Durango’s Western heritage.

Pam Jacobs,

barn dance coordinator
