Crack down on illegal drugs at school

Teens using drugs is a growing epidemic that needs to have a stop put to it. The number of young adults getting caught in school is ridiculous. Getting caught with marijuana is more frequent than getting a good grade on a test. Living in Colorado does not make it any better.

Marijuana is a much easier drug to get nowadays because of the legalization. Yes, there are people who might need it for medical reasons, but we also need to put a hold on the amount of distribution to the kids within the community.

Teenagers at the middle school are getting caught with drugs, whereas when I went to school there, no one even dared to try any drugs. We even made a pledge to say no to drugs, but now, nearly half of the kids who signed that pledge do drugs. Police are being seen more frequently at the school with drug dogs. This whole endeavor has become a battle.

I have known a few people to get expelled for having an illegal substance on them. Then they say they do not know why they are expelled. Honestly, the fact that they do not know why is mindboggling.

We need to let our youths know that drugs should not be a thing to joke around or mess with. I have seen what drugs have done to people, and it is not something I want for my fellow peers. We need to start teaching our youths that drugs are not something that you should handle so carelessly. I believe that we should start putting a crackdown on the illegal substances that are entering the school district.
