The person who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday evening on Colorado Highway has been identified as Mary J. Murphy, according to Montezuma County Coroner George Deavers.

The driver, Scott E. Chilleen, faces multiple charges, including suspicion of DUI, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, plus others, according to court records.

Murphy, 58, was a passenger in an eastbound Chevy truck driven by Chilleen that crashed off the road on mile marker 21 north of Mancos around midnight Wednesday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

She was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, Deavers said. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Murphy lived part-time in Arizona and Mancos, Deavers said.

Chilleen, 60, of Arizona, was arrested and is in custody at the Montezuma County Detention Center, according to Montezuma County Steve Nowlin. He is being held without bond.

Nowlin said that according to court records, the Colorado State Patrol issued multiple charges against Chilleen, including suspicion of DUI, vehicular assault, vehicular homicide, failing to remain at the scene of a crash, failing to remain at the scene and render aid, failing to notify police of accident, drinking from or possessing an open container of alcohol, and failing to show insurance.

Chilleen has a court appearance on Dec. 2 for filing of charges.

A 22-year-old male passenger from Texas was also seriously injured in the crash and taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital.

Nowlin said the vehicle crashed on a curve and that two occupants were ejected. There were three occupants in the truck.

Sheriff deputies, Mancos Marshal, Mancos Fire Department, Colorado State Patrol, and Southwest Health System ambulance responded to the scene.
