Cross country skiers stepped up to help

On behalf of the Hillcrest Golf Club’s board of directors, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Durango’s cross country skiing community whose generous donations helped defray the cost of purchasing a new snowmobile (grooming sled).

The board is happy to make available an in-town cross country track on the golf course property during the winter months.

For those who are unaware, it is through the golf club’s budget that funds are made available to pay staff, keep the equipment updated and the trails groomed. It is important for the public to know that the city of Durango’s Parks and Recreation Department has no role in any of the associated costs. As such, any and all donations are greatly appreciated by the board.

The club’s assistant golf course superintendent, Will Herz, has been the liaison person between the cross country skiers and the club. It has been through Will’s efforts that the quality of the course is of the highest caliber. He is to be commended.

It is the board’s desire to keep providing a first rate experience for cross country skiers every winter.

Jack Morrison, president, Hillcrest Golf Club board of directors
