Crosswalk’s failure not surprising

I was not at all surprised to learn that the crosswalk at Seventh Street and Camino del Rio has failed to prevent accidents at that location. I have come to abrupt stops there myself on several occasions; the yellow flashing lights are not obvious in the morning sun, and as drivers, we are not conditioned to be alert to lights on the side of the road. Typically, one is looking ahead to the next proper traffic light (in this case, at College Drive and Camino del Rio). This crosswalk gives those on foot a false sense of security and should be changed to accommodate drivers and pedestrians alike.
