The Colorado State University La Plata County Extension Office has extended the application deadline for its 2018 Colorado Master Gardener Program until Jan. 12.
The 12-week program will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, starting Jan. 25, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The program is equivalent to a four-credit undergraduate college class. Students will receive training in tree care, vegetables, soils, native plants, water-wise gardening, pruning and more.
The cost is $170 for those who volunteer or $530 for non-volunteers. Volunteers must complete 50 hours of volunteer time during the first year and 24 hours in subsequent years.
Applications must be submitted to the Extension Office by Jan. 12.
