Elections for the local utilities board usually fly under the radar for most of us, but the upcoming elections for La Plata Electric Association are critical for anyone interested in energy conservation. We are fortunate to have forward-thinking candidates on the ballot: Alison Dance, running in District 4, and Jeff Berman, the incumbent in District 3. Both candidates envision an energy future in Southwest Colorado embracing energy efficiency and renewables. Development of our region’s potential for renewable energy – solar, wind and geothermal – will help keep local dollars local.
Look for your LPEA ballots and consider a long-term, sustainable energy future for Southwest Colorado and the candidates who also share those beliefs, like Alison Dance and Jeff Berman.
