Members of the Sarah Platt Decker Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, delivered “Sunshine Boxes” to more than 400 area first graders.
Pencil pouches with new pencils, erasers, glue sticks, blunt-nosed scissors and a new box of 24 crayons were given to first graders in Durango, Ignacio, Bayfield and Pagosa Springs elementary public schools.
Teacher gift bags were also given.
This is the second year that the “Sunshine Boxes” have been produced.
