The Sarah Platt Decker Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, presented the Animas Museum with money to assist with refinishing the wooden floor.

The money was generated from the “Wreaths Across America” fundraiser.

The presenting members were: Vice President General Jeannine Dobbins; Regent Tanice Ramsperger; members Patty Joy and Nancy Carter; and DAR member and museum board of directors secretary Caroline Kinser. Museum board treasurer Susan Jones accepted the check. A tour of the Peterson House, another project supported by DAR, was given by Carolyn Bowra, volunteer and past museum director.

Last year, museum events were canceled and the museum closed, but behind-the-scenes activity continued. The museum has continued to update, replace and repair its building with an emphasis on curating and digitizing exhibits and cataloging of collections.

The Sarah Platt Decker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonpolitical service organization representing the La Plata and Archuleta counties. Membership is open to all women older than 18 who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence.
