Daughters of the American Revolution offer tips for displaying the flag

Daughters of the American Revolution reminds the community about the Federal Flag Code as they consider displaying an American flag this spring.

It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset, unless it is illuminated. The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except when an all weather flag is displayed. The flag should never touch anything beneath it.The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. For a copy of the Flag Code, email carolynpaschal@gmail.com.

Flags in need of replacing may be dropped it off at Vega Insurance, 818 Rosita St., Pagosa Springs, or VFW Post 4031, 1550 Main Ave., Durango.
