Dealing from the bottom of the deck

What is the Trump administration a good example of? Or rather, what is the Trump administration doing that’s good? Can parents turn to their children and proudly say: “That is how I expect you to act.”

If creating chaos for chaos’ sake, and being an Enabler-in-Chief to Steve Bannon’s addiction to destruction, is somehow laudatory, I guess I missed that part in civics class.

And why? Was our way of life so horrendous that no one wanted to come here and live, and everybody who was here wanted to leave but couldn’t? Is our democracy so unwieldy that it needs to be destroyed, our republic so repressive because it does not allow us to have a dictator? How does defying our courts improve our judicial system?

Why is this happening? People keep hearing over and over again tropes about freedom and liberty and “He’s doing what he said he would do and what the people elected him to do.”

To quote Bob Seeger, Trump is “dealing from the bottom of the deck of promises.” Very few voted to be dealt seconds. Yet, swathed in a cocoon of gullibility, there are people who still believe that with all the actions Trump is taking to destroy our country, they will be better off when the smoke clears. He is dealing from the bottom of the deck, and wants it to stay a fixed game – dealer wins, our country loses.

People who care about our country won’t let that happen. Will you?
