Tuesdays, 2 p.m.: Baby storytime. Interactive activities with music, stories, finger-plays, counting rhymes and playtime for infants to 18-month-old children. Parents and caregivers are welcome.

Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.: Toddler storytime. Stories, songs, rhymes and other activities for children ages 2-3. Story time lasts 30 minutes with crafts after.

Fridays, 10:30 a.m.: Preschool storytime. Stories, songs, rhymes and other activities for children ages 3-5. Story time lasts 30 minutes with crafts after.

Dec. 4, 3-4 p.m.: Ruby Balloon. Ruby the Balloon Lady will be roaming around the library and handing out balloons in honor of the library’s 10th birthday.

Dec. 5, 10:30 a.m.: Early Literacy Play Date. Join us every first Wednesday of the month and explore early literacy and learning through hands-on sensory activities. Be ready to move, build, play and create. Perfect for children ages infant to 5.

Dec. 5, 4 p.m.: T(w)een Time: Tabletop Games. Drop in for activities just for tweens and teens (11-17). Bring a friend or two. This week, explore fun games such as King of Tokyo.

Dec. 5, 4:30 p.m.: Happy 10th birthday, Durango Public Library! All are invited to celebrate the library’s birthday in our current location with a party. We will have cake, music, a photo booth and more. Stop in for the cake, stay for the fun.

Dec. 6, 3-5 p.m.: Birthday Button-Making. Celebrate the library’s 10th birthday with buttons. Select one of our designs and use our button-maker to make the perfect birthday button.

Dec. 6, 2:30-6:30 p.m.: Fort Lewis Mesa Holiday Ornament Making Extravaganza. Join us at the Fort Lewis Mesa branch, 11274 Highway 140 in Hesperus, for fun ornament-making while supplies last. Call Chris at 588-3331, ext. 3802.

Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Face Painting & Temporary Tattoos. Join us after preschool storytime to celebrate the library’s birthday with some face painting and temporary tattoos. We’ll be in the children’s room – stop by for some fun.

Dec. 7, 3:30 p.m.: STEAM Lab: Lego Club. Build, explore, create and problem-solve. Join us for fun STEAM- (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) based activities. This week: Lego Club. (Ages 5-12)

Dec. 8, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Sensory Storytime. An interactive storytime for children on the autism spectrum and differently-abled children of all ages. We’ll have therapeutic activities to stimulate senses. For more information, contact Corinna at 375-3385.

Dec. 12, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Fired Up Stories. Preschool-aged children and families are invited to join firefighters and EMTs from Durango Fire & Rescue for storytime.

Dec. 12, 4-5 p.m.: T(w)een Time – Mug Cakes and Hot Cocoa. Drop in for activities just for tweens and teens (11-17). Bring a friend or two. This week: Make microwavable mug cakes and hot chocolate mixes. Bring a small container or two to make extra hot cocoa mixes to take home.

Dec. 13, 4-5 p.m.: Adulting 101: Mindfulness. We’ll unwind during finals by practicing important techniques to chill out and ease stress with mindfulness instructor Maureen Fallon-Cyr. Wear comfortable clothing. (Ages 15-18)

Dec. 13, 6-7 p.m.: Life Hacks for Adults: Stress Management. Don’t let stress rule your life and ruin your preholiday season. Join Maureen Fallon-Cyr, LCSW and certified mindfulness instructor, to learn how meditation and mindfulness can truly help you conquer stress. (For ages 17 and older)

Dec. 14, 3:30-4:30 p.m.: STEAM Lab – Creativity and Mangoes! Learn about creativity and the writing process from “The Mango Tree” author Brooke Smith. We will be making some mango-themed artwork and enjoying a mango snack as well. (Ages 5-12)

Dec. 17, 7-8:30 p.m.: Books & Brews @ Animas Brewing Co. Join Durango Public Library for our nontraditional book club at Animas Brewing Co., 1560 East Second Ave.

Dec. 19, 4-5 p.m.: T(w)een Time: Holiday Gifts. Make ornaments, tags and gifts for the holidays with Shrinky Dinks, Perler Beads and Wire Wrapping. Bring a stone or arrowhead if you want for the wire-wrapping activity. (Ages 11-17)

Wednesdays 10 a.m.: Story Time: Story time is a weekly program held at the library with stories, songs, puppets and more that encourage development of early literacy skills in young children.

Wednesdays 2 p.m.: Teen Café: An open space for kids grades six–12 to come relax with friends, play games, get homework help, make crafts and other fun activities.

Wednesdays 2 p.m.: ICL MakerSpace: A place to be crafty and creative and learn about making various projects. Open to all.

Thursdays 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.: Career and Tech Support: If you need assistance applying for jobs, writing résumés, navigating Google accounts or learning more about your smartphone and/or computer. Sign up is not required, but it may reduce wait time if you do. Call 563-9287.

Dec. 8, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Card Making with Holiday Photos: This card-making class is for family members who had a photo session at the library or already have a digital file of a family photo. The class will demonstrate a few different ways to incorporate your special photo into a greeting card or create an e-card to share with family and friends.

Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m.: Storytime Stuffed Animal Sleepover: Wear your pajamas, bring your stuffed friend and listen to a story. Then, tuck your stuffed animal into bed and wish them sweet dreams as they spend the night in the library! Come back Wednesday to pick up your friend. All stuffed participants will take home a photo memory book of their sleepover.

Dec. 22, 1 p.m.: 3D Print the Holidays: Ignacio Community Library will host a demonstration of its Makergear M2 3D printer from 1 to 4 p.m. Light snacks and beverages will be provided!

Dec. 3, 6 p.m.: Classic Movie Monday: “Miracle on 34th Street.” (1947)

Dec. 4, 6 p.m.: Living Room Conversations: Immigration: A facilitated discussion using the “Living Room Conversation” model. Living Room Conversations are a conversational bridge across issues that divide and separate us. They provide an easy structure for engaging in friendly yet meaningful conversation with those with whom we may not agree. These conversations increase understanding, reveal common ground and sometimes even allow us to discuss possible solutions. Immigration has become a flash point in our politics. It is highly personal for a wide variety of reasons. This conversation is an opportunity to just listen to each other’s experiences around this issue. Increased understanding can be a foundation for better relationships and even solutions.

Dec. 6, 7 p.m.: Community Acoustic Music Jam: An acoustic music jam open to all levels and ages. Bring a song or two to lead or just play along. The first Thursday of each month.

Dec. 7, 6 p.m.: Family First Friday: S’mores Bonfire: We’ll get the outdoor fire pit going and toast up marshmallows for s’mores, all while we stay warm sipping hot chocolate.

Dec. 10, 7 p.m.: Classic Movie Monday: Holiday episodes of “Nelsons”/”Honeymooners”/”Alfred Hitchcock Presents.” (1950s)

Dec. 11, 6 p.m.: The Seasonal Apothecary: Herbal Tea Blending: Explore new teas and herbs you can use to blend your own perfect cuppa. Tea is one of the simplest healing rituals found across cultures. Herbs used in various tea blends and tea itself all contain various healing properties. Discover taste profiles, learn tips and tricks for matching flavors, snag some classic tea blend recipes and craft a special batch of tea to take home. Preregistration required. Dec. 18, 1 p.m.: Tuesday Crafternoons: It’s a crafting potluck. Bring an activity and supplies to share and join in communal crafting.

Dec. 19, 6 p.m.: Local Author Meet and Greet and Book Sale: Buy local and read local this holiday season. Local authors will be at the library selling and signing their books from 6-7:30 p.m. There will also be an open mic, hors d’oeuvres and general holiday cheer.

Dec. 21: Library closing at 6 p.m. for staff holiday party.

Dec. 22, 2 p.m.: Patrons’ Picks Matinee Movie: An afternoon screening of films chosen by you, our patrons, with free popcorn, of course. In December, we are showing “Love Actually.”

Dec. 28, 12:30 p.m.: Senior Center Outreach: Library staff reach out to the seniors in the community and bring books, audiobooks and DVDs to the Senior Center in Bayfield. All items are available for check out.
