Decision on Times strips Bayfield of its identity

In disbelief, we waded through Doug Bennett's rationalization for "transitioning" the Pine River Times into oblivion.

From the delusion that any of his "reporters" at the Herald could dig, explain, and write with the adroitness of Carol McWilliams, to the snake oil sale to the readership of only publishing half of the news, comes the folly that the Pine River Valley can be duped by a page in the Friday edition of a foreign publication with all the depth of USA Today.

We have been homogenized; we have been stripped of our identity; our hearts will ache at the void where a cohesive source of support and stability once existed that was created and molded by Melanie Brubaker-Mazur. We stand aghast!

Mel, from the bottoms of our hearts, we thank you for the memories and all you did for the Pine River Valley community.
