April is Civitan Awareness Month and clubs committed to improving life for local citizens.
DeColores Civitan Club is a member of the International Civitan organization, which primarily focuses on assisting people with developmental disabilities.
Members also volunteer their time to help many different local community groups, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Durango Special Needs Open Gym, Festival of Trees, VFW food boxes, Adaptive Sports, adult education scholarships and Salvation Army bell ringing. DeColores Civitan also coordinates community service projects such as highway cleanup and a spring cleanup at Andrews Lake.

The DeColores Civitan club meets at noon on the first and third Tuesday of each month at Tequila’s restaurant, 948 Main Ave. Guests are welcome.
The club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Bank of Colorado, 1199 Main Ave.
The speaker will be Joy Larson of Treasure Ministry and the annual Night to Shine organizer.
