In response to Larry Bollinger’s letter of Aug. 3 (“Please don’t fall for Tipton’s con”): Democrats often have short and selective memories. You forget how far beyond the constitutional scope of the office of President “I Have a Pen and Phone” went whenever Congress wouldn’t capitulate to his whims.
It is extremely peculiar how Democrats are now concerned about deficit spending after the Obama years adding $10-plus trillion to the debt. Of course, the current budget’s deficit was necessary to get the needed support from senate Democrats to pass. But rest assured the deficit will not be as big as expected because of the corporate/business/personal tax cuts and the reduction of onerous regulations; this always grows the economy (4.1 percent instead of the “new norm” of 1.2 percent), thus creating many jobs, putting people to work and increasing corporate profits, all of which increases government revenue through business taxes and the individual taxes of people who are now able to find work and gain self-respect instead of living on welfare (3.9 million fewer food stamp recipients since President Trump’s election.)
I would love to be able to explain all the positives of the removal of the individual mandate from the (Un)affordable Care Act (passed through lies and deceit, the words of “architect” Jonathon Gruber) – now there was a con!
