The 11 Democratic candidates looking to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner will be in Durango this weekend.
Anne Markward with the La Plata County Democrats announced a forum will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 E. Third Ave.
In an email to The Durango Herald, Markward said all 12 Democratic candidates would participate. Candidate Mike Johnston announced Tuesday, however, that he was pulling out of the race.
Markward said this will be the first time all the candidates be together on a public stage.
“In addition to answering basic questions about themselves and their positions, questions will be taken from the audience,” she said. “The candidates will spend time with audience members afterward during an informal social meet-and-greet, also at the library.”
The candidates seeking to oust Gardner, who was elected in 2014, are:
Daniel Baer, a former director of Colorado’s Department of Higher Education.Diana Bray, a climate activist from Englewood.Lorena Farcia, director of Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition.John Hickenlooper, former Colorado governor.Alice Madden, a former state House Democratic leader.Andrew Romanoff, a former state House representative.Stephany Rose Spaulding, a community activist based in Colorado Springs.John Walsh, Colorado’s former U.S. attorney.Michelle Ferrigno Warren, who works for Christian Community Development Association.Angela Williams, a Democratic state senator representing Denver.Trish Zornio, a scientist who lives in Superior.
