Payton Randle scored four goals, and Jessie Sutherlin added a hat trick as the Durango High School girls lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season.

DHS (1-7, 1-4 Mountain League) stormed out to a 14-0 halftime lead before finishing off a 16-2 home victory against Steamboat Springs (1-6, 1-4 ML) on Saturday.

“We got out to a big lead and were able to rotate some people around and get (junior varsity) players into the game,” DHS head coach Jenni Darlow said in a voicemail to The Durango Herald.

Tymbree Hawkins had two goals and two assists in the win, and Alyssa Swan added two more goals.

Kim Crawford, Shilo Gillen, Angela Grogan, Kelsey Pool and Megan Robinson all added one goal.

The Demons scooped up 15 groundballs in the win.

DHS junior Megan Pope started at goaltender for the Demons, and she made two saves in the first half.

DHS freshman Kylee Shilakis took over in net in the second half and made four saves. Steamboat Springs only had eight shots in the game.

The Demons again will hit the road for their next game at Eagle Valley, the first game between those two teams.
