Demons suffer a second shutout

DHS boys soccer allows 3 goals in a loss to league-leading Fruita Monument

Fruita Monument midfielder Noah Nelson scored two goals and striker Wesley Padgett added another as the Wildcats beat the Durango High School boys soccer team 3-0 on Saturday in Fruita, according to Maxpreps.com.

DHS (4-3, 2-2 Southwestern League) trailed 1-0 at halftime but allowed league-leading Fruita Monument (8-2, 3-0 SWL) two goals in the last 40 minutes for the final margin.

It was the first time DHS had been shut out since a Sept. 7 loss at Roaring Fork, and the Wildcats’ three goals were the most DHS has allowed since the season-opening 4-3 win over Hinkley.

The Demons, looking to avoid their first losing streak of the season, next will play at Montezuma-Cortez on Tuesday.
