Demons to play on another day

Snow postpones DHS games vs. Piedra Vista

The red-hot Durango High School girls basketball was cooled down by the snow Tuesday.

Temporarily, at least.

The DHS boys and girls basketball teams were scheduled to play Farmington’s Piedra Vista High School on Tuesday night, but heavy snow and poor road conditions led the athletic directors from both schools to decide to postpone the games until a later date.

The DHS boys team (3-6) was set to travel to Piedra Vista (8-7), while the DHS girls (9-1) were slated to host the Lady Panthers (8-6).

Both games were to be the last non-Southwestern League contests of the year for the two DHS varsity teams, who now will have to find a date in between league action to play the Panthers.

“We’ll meet with our coaches and have a discussion with (the Piedra Vista athletic director) and decide on a date and time,” DHS athletic director David Preszler said in a message to The Durango Herald.
