Tight games haven’t been commonplace this season for the Durango High School boys basketball team.
The Demons proved they had the poise to pull out a close win against Montrose on Saturday, winning 51-48 for their first Southwestern League road victory.
DHS (7-5, 3-1 SWL) trailed 40-30 after the third quarter but went on an 8-3 run at the beginning of the fourth.
The Demons tied the game at 44 with 3 minutes, 23 seconds left before holding on for the three-point win.
They’ve won three out of their first four SWL games for the first time since a 4-0 start in ’07.
DHS will play rival Montezuma-Cortez at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Cortez.

The boys Southwestern League game will be played at 7:30 p.m.
