The Herald said it: “Endorsements are the result of careful thought. That doesn’t make us right.”
Unfortunately, several not-right endorsements were also short on careful thought.
Claiming to look for a moderate John Hickenlooper lookalike, they endorsed Walker Stapleton, who is embraced by radical Tom Tancredo.
Stapleton has been working only one day a week as state treasurer, while Hickenlooper was always diligent – no comparison. Vote for Jared Polis, who will focus on health, education, job creation and innovation.
They endorsed a county treasurer candidate who doesn’t know what the job involves. Vote for Allison Aichele’s experience, technological leadership and spotless accounting records.
They endorsed a state Senate candidate who denies the science of climate change, a position that has put Southwest Colorado in jeopardy of drought and wildfires. Vote for Guinn Unger, who will start working now to protect us from climate change impact.
Also, I urge a vote for Barbara McLachlan, Sean Smith, Clyde Church, Diane Mitsch Bush, Dave Young, Lesley Smith, Alvin Rivera, and Jena Griswold.
