As a dentist following the fluoride fight, I was asked by someone against fluoridation if we dentists have financial interests in having fluoride in the water.
After hearing that a second time, I thought I should make a comment about it.
No, dentists don’t have any financial interest in fluoride. Dentists would probably have more financial benefit from not having fluoride in the water. Patients would have more cavities, bigger cavities, need more crowns, need more root canals, and eventually loose more teeth and have to have more dental implants.
I’m proud that the reason most dentists support fluoride is to help patients minimize dental decay.
