Developing storms prompt flood warning

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch effective until 11 a.m. Thursday for Colorado from the Continental Divide westward.

Two storm patterns have developed. A northern circulation centered over central Utah will weaken and head toward Wyoming and Idaho. A second pattern located over central Arizona will move over the Four Corners during the evening and night.

A high threat of flash flooding remains for Archuleta, Hinsdale and Mineral counties and the immediate surrounding areas; a moderate threat is forecast for parts of Southwest Colorado and a low threat forecast along the Continental Divide.

The most monsoonal precipitation is forecast along the Colorado and Utah border and in the far southwestern corner of Colorado.

The maximum rainfall at lower elevations could be 1.8 to 3 inches an hour. The higher terrain will generally have 0.5 to 1.2 inches per hour.
