The inaugural Devo Days Mountain Bike Festival will be held Aug. 12-13 at Purgatory Resort, featuring racing for all ages and other activities.

The event will feature pretty much every discipline of mountain bike racing, including short-track, dual slalom, cross-country, Enduro, downhill and kids races.

There will also be a skills clinic, guided trail rides, a movie night and other family activities.

On Aug. 12, Devo coaches will provide free skills clinics in Purgatory’s bike park. The clinics will depart from the base area at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

The racing will also begin on Aug. 12 with junior, short-track and dual slalom competitions. The junior races are scheduled to begin at 11:50 a.m., followed by short-track at 12:50 and dual slalom at 3 p.m.

The Kids Fun Race hopes to encourage the youngest cyclists to ride in a safe and enjoyable environment with their parents cheering from the sideline.

The short-track races will bring a burst of adrenaline as riders of all ages compete in fast-paced laps around a compact course. The junior and B races will be approximately 15-minute sprints while the A/Open race will be about 25 minutes long.

Dual slalom, meanwhile, will be a head-to-head downhill sprint for people to showcase their descending ability.

On Aug. 13, cross-country racing will kick off the day, with the A/open, B and junior waves beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Enduro and downhill courses, meanwhile, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for times to be clocked on Strava. The courses will remain open to the public during the competition.

The downhill race will have courses for youth, amateurs and pros featuring steep and rugged terrain with jumps, drops and berms.

The Enduro race, meanwhile, will be the event’s ultimate test for riders on technical terrain, challenging their versatility as well as their stamina.
