A quartet of Demons earned All-Southwestern League honors in boys basketball after the season according to a recent news release from head coach Alan Batiste.
The Durango High School squad had Nick Hamlin land on the first team and earn an all-state nod, while Ty Elliott, Willy Frownfelter and Trent Andrews landed on the second team, with Andrews adding an all-academic selection.
Hamlin, a senior forward, was a force in the paint for the 17-7 Demons, pulling in 5.8 rebounds per game. He also averaged 7.7 points per game according to www.maxpreps.com.
Elliott, a senior guard, averaged 10.6 points per game to lead the Demons in scoring. He chipped in 1.4 assists per game and 2.0 steals per contest.
Frownfelter scored at a 7.4 points-per-game clip this season, and the senior guard also averaged 1.4 assists per game and 1.2 steals per contest.
Andrews, a junior forward, came on strong late in the season and averaged 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 points per game.
Durango made the playoffs for the second consecutive season in 2012-13, knocking off Pueblo Central before bowing out in the second round to Cheyenne Mountain.
