The Durango High School girls soccer team, ranked No. 4 in Class 4A, won its fourth straight game on Saturday.
A day after beating No. 7 Steamboat Springs 2-0 in Grand Junction on Friday, the Demons turned around and beat league foe Grand Junction High School 2-0 on Saturday.
Mason Rowland scored a first-half goal to give DHS the early lead.
Emery Miller then gave DHS some insurance with a goal in the second half.
Sophie Ragsdale and Lexi Behn were both credited with assists.
Goalie Jocelyn Feir, meanwhile, made three saves in 70 minutes on the field, while Riley Dastrup made one in the final 10 minutes.
DHS, on the other hand, fired 19 shots in the game.
With the win, Durango improved to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the 5A/4A Southwestern League.
On Thursday, DHS will host the league leaders, and the only team that beat them this season, Fruita Monument (11-2, 6-0), at 6 p.m. at DHS. Fruita, which received the 14th most votes in the latest Class 5A rankings, was also scheduled to play Grand Junction Central (8-5, 3-4) Tuesday night.
In their first meeting, DHS went on the attack, trailing 2-1 late in the game, but Fruita was able to counter attack to extend its lead.
Thursday’s clash will be both team’s final regular season game and decide who wins the league.
UPDATE: A previous version of this story said DHS will play Fruita on Friday at Riverview Field. The game will be played at 6 p.m. Thursday at Durango High School.
