The Durango High School girls’ swimming team wrapped up its season Thursday by competing in several event finals at the Class 4A state championships in Thornton.

Sophomore Elin Bjorklund Mischler and freshman Joellianna Rohde tied for the team’s best result with 16th-place individual finishes.

Mischler lowered her time from Wednesday’s preliminary race in the 100 yard freestyle by .53 seconds in Thursday’s B final, helping her touch 16th in 55.71 seconds.

She also competed in the B final of the 50 free Thursday and swam for 19th place in 25.64.

Rohde, meanwhile, raced in the 100 yard backstroke and placed 16th in 1:03.03.

The Demons also raced in the B final of 200 yard freestyle relay on Thursday. Seniors Maren Clay, Ashley Forrest, Abby Bowman and junior Cassidy Hill swam the relay in the final for DHS and placed 20th in 1:53.16.

In the team race, the Demons scored 14 points at the 4A championships and finished 26th as a squad. Pine Creek won two individual titles and two relays to score the team title with 463 points. The Demons raced in several other events at the championships where they finished just outside the top 20.

Durango’s 400 yard freestyle relay team clocked the 21st fastest preliminary time of 3:56.65 and was the first alternate, but didn’t get the callup Thursday. Rohde, Bowman, Clay and Mischler swam on the relay for the Demons.

In the 200 medley relay, Rohde and seniors Elyza Baumchen, Anna Lawrence and Forrest clocked the 26th fastest preliminary race in 2:03.93.
