I note that Ballantine Communications outsourced the editorial board of the Durango Herald to outside interests that include a representative of the oil and gas industry.
This board was responsible for the recent editorial criticizing County Commissioner Gwen Lachelt (Herald, Nov. 19).
I am curious. Did the industry representative recuse herself from all discussion and writing of that editorial?
Because if she did not, she and the Herald are guilty of a breach of ethics far more serious than Commissioner Lachelt’s non-violation.

Editor’s note: The letter writer is incorrect. Twice monthly, the Herald’s Editorial Advisory Board participates in discussions of community issues and interests. Board members do not write the editorials that appear in The Durango Herald.
