Diggin' It In Durango set for April 7-8

Four Corners Volleyball Club will host the Diggin' It In Durango USAVolleyball Tournament on April 7-8. The club, in partnership with Fort Lewis College Women's Volleyball, is bringing 96 volleyball teamsin the 12-18U age divisions to Durango. These teams are from 29 volleyball club programs from Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

"It's an honor to bring this event to Durango, Bayfield and Ignacio, as many teams now include the Diggin' It as a primary event on their USAVolleyball Schedules," said Terene Foutz, FCVBC Director and Head Coach.

More than 56 participating volleyball teams will compete for their division championships in FLC Whalen Gymnasium and the FLC Student Life Center. More than 900 families will visit the three towns for the tournament. On Friday, April 6, the Fort Lewis College Volleyball Program is hosting its spring FLC Volleyball ID Camp. The ID Camp provides an opportunity for the serious volleyball player currently in high school and early college years to show their skills at the college level. Interested players can register online at www.goskyhawks.com. The camp is from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, Diggin' It In Durango is featuring a rare local NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball spring match. Colorado State University will play Northern Arizona University at Bayfield High School, home of alumni Kirstie Hillyer and Maddi Foutz.

"Our Bayfield kids are bringing their CSU Rams home with them, and will share their NCAA powerhouse program with their home community," Foutz said. More than 700 tickets have been sold online for this event, which will likely sell out. No walk-in tickets will be sold at Bayfield High School. Online tickets are available through March 28, by going to www.fourcornersvolleyball.leagueapps.com, or visiting the Diggin' It In Durango web page.

Coach Foutz encourages the community to get to the Diggin' It matches on Saturday and Sunday, as well. Age division and playing site schedules will be located at the web site. Matches begin at 8:30 a.m. daily. Gate passes are $8 for adults for one day, or $15 for the full weekend. The CSU-NAU NCAA DI spring match tickets are sold separately.
