District 9-R students must have permission to view eclipse

To view the solar eclipse during school, Durango School District 9-R students must give classroom teachers a permission slip, signed by a parent or guardian, before the eclipse starts Monday.

Students who have signed permission will be able to use solar glasses or class-created pinhole viewers to watch the eclipse.

To download the permission slip, visit http://bit.ly/2uYskaj.

Students without a signed permission slip can participate in other activities or view televised coverage of the eclipse inside school buildings.

With or without solar glasses, students will not be allowed to look at the partially eclipsed sun through any kind of camera, telescopes, binoculars or other optical devices.

For more information about solar glasses, visit www.eclipseglasses.com/pages/safety.
