Diversity Dialogue to focus on everyday life in region

Sixth annual event examines awareness, intercultural growth

Durango and area community members are invited for an experiential, thought-provoking dialogue on diversity-related themes and experiences. The dialogue is set to start at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 with a light breakfast at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave., in the Peaks room.

Various organizations have partnered to make the 6th annual Durango Diversity Dialogue a dynamic experience for participants. Support comes from the City of Durango's Community Relations Commission and the Embracing Diversity Initiative, in partnership with the Prejudice Elimination Action Team at Durango High School, and Fort Lewis College's Common Ground and El Centro de Muchos Colores, and Celebrating Healthy Communities Coalition.

This is an intergenerational opportunity and is recommended for ages 12 and up. The event is a workshop with a series of exercises and reflection time that are designed to raise awareness, understanding and promote intercultural growth in the community.

The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the La Plata Family Center food pantry.

RSVP to lauren.evaluation@gmail.com or call 259-1247. Lunch is included for those who RSVP by March 11.
