DMV asks public to donate stuffed animals for children in times of need

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles invites Coloradans to donate new stuffed animals through Sept. 4 at 24 driver's license offices across the state as part of the seventh annual KOSI 101.1 Teddy Bear Patrol presented by Smashburger.

Donations can be dropped off locally at these locations:

  • Cortez: 2210 E. Main St.
  • Durango: 329-A South Camino del Río Durango.

The Teddy Bear Patrol is a yearly donation drive that collects new stuffed animals for first responders and emergency teams across the state. First responders use the donations to comfort children during emergencies, such as automobile wrecks or house fires.

All stuffed animal donations must be new and, if possible, in store packaging. The DMV will collect and deliver the donations to KOSI 101.1 to provide to first responders.

This is the first year the DMV has invited Coloradans to join in the Teddy Bear Patrol. The DMV first participated in the event in August 2023 with an employee-only effort that gathered 217 stuffed animals. This year, the DMV hopes to donate more stuffed animals.
