I’m proud add my support to Rita Fowler, a registered nurse who resigned from San Juan Basin Health Department after it killed the two old cats she and others fed since birth 12 years ago. What a truly heartless thing for SJBHD to do – to the cats and to the apparently undervalued employees who gave of themselves not only to their human clientele but to the unfortunate cats whose only transgression was to be born unwanted. SJBHD’s cruelty is certainly out of step with our generally compassionate community.
Let’s hope that instead of repeating SJBHD’s heinous behavior, others choose instead to act with personal integrity and compassion, as Fowler did.
