As a resident of La Plata County, I’m really struggling with the being forced to live under a burgeoning form of a fascist government run by an authoritarian president along with billionaire oligarchs, and patronizing loyalists, who assuredly will be out of touch with mainstream America.
This newly elected government, using Project 2025 as a working template, has a goal to eliminate Democracy and embrace and impose fascism on all Americans.
The divisive strategy for this fascist government to achieve power, control and greater personal wealth, will be by means of overwhelming Americans with excessively rapid political change, pathological lying and deceit, illegal acts, divisiveness, bullying, and encouraging mistrust and rejection of our current government institutions.
Add recklessness, and retribution against political opponents and then trying to justify their behavior with “Let’s Make America Great Again.”
This will, most undoubtedly, unravel our Constitution and fragile Democracy, along with our country’s values and norms. It will create greater discord, divisiveness and polarization within our families, communities and country.
“Divide and conquer” is their strategy. Our new president is exalting himself, through a plethora of lies, conspiracies, and removing guardrails in order to achieve absolute authority with unlimited power and control, thus abandoning Democracy and replacing it with an oppressive dictatorship.
Unfortunately, too many people aren’t paying close attention, thus becoming gullible, or apathetic, and complacent.
This is a most critical time in which to come together, focus, push back and commit to supporting our Constitution and Democracy.
