Do we really need a park in the sky?

In one newspaper article written by a member of the county commission (Herald, May 6), we read that funds are short, the county budget cannot be met, libraries have been closed, the Bayfield county clerk’s office has been closed and county services will be cut.

Then, in a front page August 18 article we see that the county fairgrounds is to be moved and vastly expanded.

While noise may be made about grants and outside funding, the day-to-day operations of utilities, repairs, personnel, etc. will be borne directly by the taxpayers.

Perhaps one of the reasons the county is short on funds is that the county commissioners keep spending, spending, spending.

It’s time for them to stop dreaming and spend money on roads and other essential services.
