On Feb. 24, a meeting was scheduled in Dolores that a staffer, Southwest Regional Director Naomi Dobbs, planned to attend. According to Cameryn Cass (Herald, Feb. 26) Dobbs fled the scene after seeing the large crowd.
If Dobbs was afraid, she should be forgiven for her cowardice, at least by the public. However, she must answer to her boss. While representing Hurd, she failed to fulfill an obligation made to the citizens of CD3.
This gathering consisted of law-abiding citizens who had questions, and wanted answers from their representative. They were stood up, and if this meeting had taken place as originally planned in a church, they would have been jilted.
However, there is another possibility to explain Dobbs’ behavior: ambivalence. With the alleged comment perpetrated by DOGE referring to citizens and the “parasite” caste, perhaps Dobbs did not respect the citizens assembled? Perhaps she arrogantly saw herself as better, and refused to grant an iota of respect that the citizens deserved? After all, she belongs to a political cult that are convinced that “entitlements,” such as Social Security and veterans benefits, can be taken away, despite the fact that both benefits recipients have paid for.
Rep. Hurd owes CD3 citizens an apology, at least. Dobbs made you appear insensitive, uppity.
In the future, try using a Zoom meeting. Your neighbor, Rep. Teresa Leger-Fernadez, has used this very form of communication to inform constituents about the latest Social Security changes. However, as a MAGA, decency appears alien.
