Dock Dogs coming to Pet Expo

Event this weekend at La Plata County Fairgrounds
Dogs - 150 or so - are expected to compete in Dock Dogs competition next weekend at the Four Corners Pet Expo.

Four Corners Pet Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19-20 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango.

This year's event will feature Dock Dogs, an international canine aquatics competition. About 150 dogs may be competing over the two-day event, including local dogs and many from out of state. This is the first time Dock Dogs has appeared in the Four Corners.

More than 50 vendors will participate, including a dozen animal rescues conducting on-site adoptions. Pet food companies, groomers, trainers, veterinarians, and pet supply companies and many more will be offering information and expert advice to attendees. Food and drink will be available from Olde Tymer's Café, Kona Ice and Durango Brewing Co.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of La Plata County will draw a winner for their playhouse, built by Durango High School students, at 3 p.m. Saturday. The playhouse will be on display throughout the event, and raffle tickets may be purchased for $5 each up until the drawing time.

Alpine Bank will be accepting pet food and pet supplies for their pet drive at the event. Admission is $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Anyone bringing a pet food product will be admitted free.
