Colorado has gradually been subsumed by leftists from blue states, most heavily along the front range and in Southwest Colorado. The now Democrat-controlled state Legislature has voted woke and anti-gun laws on traditional Colorado citizens. We also need some sunlight on the Democrat-controlled Durango and the La Plata region.
Currently, Durango is a de facto sanctuary city. Not a declared sanctuary city, but a city that avoids asking criminals about immigration status and which does not voluntarily help federal agencies to enforce democratically enacted U.S. laws.
In other words, our law enforcement is stealthily hindering enforcement of U.S. laws while avoiding accurate reportage of illegal immigrants and illegals’ crimes in Southwest Colorado.
Are our heads of local law enforcement liable for any repeat crimes by illegal aliens (“undocumented” is a weasel term and we all know it)? If your home is burglarized by an illegal alien who should have been deported the first time he was caught, can you sue the sheriff or chief of police?
News-wise, the Herald is not going to report anything negative about illegal migrants; only that they are being wrongly treated by enforcing current laws.
Solicitous articles have been written about socialist organizations like BLM, DEI, transgenderism, restorative justice and so on. There is no reportage about the DEI processes in local government and our schools. What you don’t know you can’t complain about. Maybe we need someone like Trump (although I’m not a huge fan) just to bring some light on the attempted takeover?
