Donald Trump fiddles while we all burn

At this point, it is clear that this administration not only cares nothing for Americans, but that it cares nothing for humanity. Lisa Pool makes a point that we forget all too often: climate knows no border (“Trump steamrolls the West,” Sept. 29). We all suffer for these shortsighted policies. And why not lean in to renewable energy, which creates long-term, mechanical, technical and often manual repair and installation jobs?

For an administration that complained about the departure of factory and mining jobs, it’s certainly not thinking outside the box as far as other labor possibilities go!

At the same time, it simply accepts that global warming will cook us to the tune of a 7-degree increase by 2100. The only preposterous thing about this prediction is the idea that Americans will not fight back.

Since when do we roll over and wait for supposedly inevitable doom? Since when is that what makes America great?

Our politicians aren’t listening. Let’s make them. It’s time for them to stand up and take action, implementing policies that will move us rapidly away from fossil fuels. If they do not, they won’t just fail their fellow Americans, but their world.
